SOLUTION OF EFFLUENT PROBLEMS

As  in the case of most chemical industries, in the manufacturing and utilization of dyes and dyes intermediate industries there is generation of large quantities of coloured effluents of high  COD and dissolved organic and inorganic pollutants. The discharge of untreated effluent results into surface and ground water pollution, ugly scene of surrounding area and damage to ecological balance. On account of this the ‘aesthatic’ value of drinking water has been severely damaged and many water bodies have been declared unfit for drinking purpose. Day by day the precious resources of water is becoming scarce in many parts of industrial areas. Even if the impact of the effluent on eyes and respiratory system is ignored the country like India may not even dream to afford this permanent contamination and loss of precious resources of ground water.

The organic pollutants and colour of dyes do not disappear even over a period of time due to acidic pH, presence of inorganic salts and biologically nondegradable organic material. All the waste water treatment methodologies have so far failed to find suitable technology for treatment of these effluents. In the recent trend of globalization, dyes industries are to run and thus generation of waste water cannot be eliminated and the process of pollution & contamination of drinking water continues unchecked. The prime need for these industries is to bring them out of the bottleneck of effluent treatment problems. The vital task is to find out suitable methodology which can remove these organic contaminants and coloured pollutants completely of very close to prescribed standards. We took up the challenge and joined in this vital endeavour and through R & D network have come out with unique chemical formulation "V–FLOC" for treatment of dyes effluents. "V–FLOC" removes the organic contaminants and coloured pollutants to the extent of 80 – 95%. The methodology is single step simple treatment.

The application and suitability f "V–FLOC"  in terms of reduction of COD and removal of colour and other pollutants have been checked and confirmed through laboratory and field trials on synthetic and trade effluents at various dyes manufacturing units. The results are excellent and almost meets the standards.

"V–FLOC " is viscous liquid insoluble in water.
  Methodology of Treatment:
Collect the effluent in a treatment tank. Adjust the pH between 2 to 4, (i.e. acidic). Add required dosage of "V–FLOC" and stir well. The coloured flocks separates out immediately. Remove the floc by skimming, filtering or decanting the effluent as convenient. Ascertain the dosage of "V–FLOC" through laboratory trials.

  Why only "V – FLOC"

  1. No such simple method is available to remove colour and organic pollutants.
  2. Cost effective
    1. No further treatment of effluent is required.
    2. Treated water can be recycled for process use.
    3. Recovery of dyes component is possible.
    4. "V – FLOC" can be recovered and reused.
    5. Minimum land and power consumption.
    6. Minimum capital investment.
    7. Simple and unique technology
